A special tribute to life and music of Giya Kancheli (1935 – 2019), Georgia’s leading composer and one of the most distinguished in the Soviet Union in the late 20th century, presented by one of most important interpreters of Kancheli’s music worldwide internationally acclaimed clarinetist Julian Milkis and pianist Anna Kiselyova. The programme features recently produced film about the composer “I used to hate clarinet” and the performance of his Miniatures for Clarinet and Piano - Music of Theatre and Cinema.

Julian Milklis is“…simply the best clarinettist in the world!,” according to Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Moscow, Russia. One of the most exciting and versatile artists performing today, the only student of clarinet icon Benny Goodman, Juilliard trained artist Julian Milkis has garnered an international reputation as a soloist, chamber musician, recitalist, and jazz clarinettist all around the world.
